Teacher, tell us what to do!
Do you ever read the bible and struggle to understand? According to the bible, the greatest teacher you’ll have is the Holy Spirit. Several New Testament verses highlight the Holy Spirit's role as a teacher. Here are some key passages:
John 14:26:
"But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you." (NIV)
This verse directly states the Holy Spirit's teaching function, emphasizing instruction and remembrance of Jesus' teachings.
John 16:13:
"But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come." (NIV)
This passage emphasizes the Spirit's role in guiding believers into truth.
1 John 2:27:
"As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit—just as it has taught you, remain in him." (NIV)
This verse speaks of the anointing of the Holy Spirit as a source of teaching, indicating that believers have direct access to divine instruction.
1 Corinthians 2:13:
"This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words." (NIV)
This verse highlights that the Holy Spirit is the source of spiritual understanding and the ability to articulate spiritual truths.
These verses collectively teach us that the Holy Spirit:
Instructs believers in the teachings of Jesus.
Guides them into a deeper understanding of truth.
Reminds them of what Jesus has said.
Provides spiritual insight beyond human wisdom.
So, if you're searching for answers, look to the Word. If you're searching for meaning, look to the Spirit. When the two come together, things get real!
