What If a Miracle Believes in You?
Do you believe in miracles?
History is filled with accounts of them—supernatural events that have altered the course of human lives. Perhaps your own skepticism comes from a lack of personal experience; after all, firsthand evidence can be the most convincing. In a world saturated with misinformation, it’s wise to question extraordinary claims.
This very tension is at the heart of John, chapter 9. For those following along at www.simplediscipleship.org or the podcast, you'll recognize the scene. A common misconception, both then and now, is that personal suffering must be a consequence of sin. But Jesus corrects this very flawed thinking.
When the religious leaders see a man born blind, they ask who is to blame: "Did he sin or his parents?"
“Neither,” Jesus answered, “but that the works of God should be revealed in him.” He then made clay, anointed the man’s eyes, and told him to wash in the Pool of Siloam. The man did, and for the first time in his life, he could see. He returned to them seeing. What a statement!
It was an undeniable miracle. Yet, the authorities, blinded by their own (fear, confusion, unbelief, religious tradition, and/or misaligned doctrine) interrogated this man’s parents and ultimately excommunicated the man for his testimony. They cast him out. Harsh.. But… not before he gave one of the most powerful statements in scripture: “Whether He is a sinner or not I do not know. One thing I know: that though I was blind, now I see.”
This man's experience became a truth that no one could take from him.
So, I ask again: do you believe in miracles? If not, I pray you experience one someday. Not to validate a faith you don't have, but to bolster the faith you do. Because when a miracle is yours, it becomes an unshakeable reality—proof of a God who still performs the marvelous. And for Him, nothing is impossible.
Prayer: Thank you Jesus for the miracles you performed in me!
